About this group
We are the first in Ireland, and only charity in the region providing befriending services to people with dementia and their carers.
The overall driving force of the organisation is to support the retention of as much independence as possible for those with dementia and for them to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. We provide a variety of services including Carers Support Groups, AlzPals, AlzClubs and AlzInfo.
Reasons to support this group
Dementia touches so many families and we are the only befriending service for people with dementia and their families, in the region.
Our organisation is undertaken by a voluntary board and all services provided are volunteer based. We also bring in facilitators and tutors for specific events to enrich our offerings to the community we serve.
We know we are providing a critical service to the community that would not otherwise be provided. With the exception of some minimal temporary funding from the HSE, all our funds are raised, on an ongoing basis, through fundraising events or private donations. This means we continually have to plan and engage in fundraising activities, in order to continue to fund the services we provide to the community.
