About this group
Moybologue Historical Society is a community voluntary organisation consisting of a committee and general membership. We are based in a rural area outside of Bailieborough, Co. Cavan & we organise events throughout the course of the year such as community get-togethers, talks, community led research on local monuments of historical interest, bringing the community together in researching, preserving & promoting our own local heritage & also providing a social outlet in an isolated rural area.
Reasons to support this group
We are working voluntarily in an isolated rural area, providing an opportunity for our local community to understand and promote our own heritage.
We provide a social outlet, and it is always great to see local men and women of all ages getting hands on or just coming along to watch with curiosity while a survey or research is ongoing.
We have achieved so much in the last 3 to 4 years, from geophysical surveys in a medieval graveyard, to grave-marker inscription surveys; from annual Heritage Week events, to saying The Big Hello earlier this year, a cross-border collaboration with a group in Co. Down and several talks and events throughout the year. We want to make sure we can keep going and keep delivering new projects and ideas to keep our members and community volunteers active, involved and motivated.
