How it works
It’s really easy! Simply purchase a #ThirstForBetter bottle of Deep RiverRock, enter the code on the reverse of the label, then choose a Community Group you’d like to donate your 10c to. This can be done every time you get hold of a new bottle (So get collecting!).
(You can enter your code through this website, or alternatively, use our super slick Deep RiverRock Facebook Chatbot!)
Masamba started in 1994 and has become Ireland’s premier samba music group. Our dual aims are the promotion of Brazilian culture in Ireland and using music as a tool to improve the lives of individuals and the communities they live in.
We run open-door rehearsals for adults, free workshops for local children, and deliver over 400 workshops each year with schools, youth groups, disability groups, etc.
We also perform throughout Ireland, playing at local community festivals, sporting events, etc.
Lately, we have been asked to work with younger children, as this work is seen as important in setting the blueprint for how an individual can develop to reach their potential.
Reasons to support this group
Masamba already has a proven track record of delivering educational programmes with children and young people.
The group is now in it's 25th year, and in 2017 we delivered over 440 workshop with over 1700 people.
The fact that most of our work is either repeat work or referrals from satisfied groups, demonstrates that our methods are proven, and we are highly regarded as being able to enhance the lives of individuals and communities through our work.
Masamba believes in the concept of lifelong learning, which means that we are always trying to improve our own knowledge and skills. Our staff of three facilitators have over 75 years of experience as performers and teachers, but there is always room for further development.
In September 2018, we will host two highly experienced percussionists who will work with Masamba staff, volunteers and the wider community.
Masamba's Musical Director is currently in year 2 of a 4-year PhD in Arts Practice.
Masamba can be trusted to manage any funds raised in a responsible manner, and to get the best value possible for ourselves and our clients.
We are in receipt of funding under the Community Services Programme, and as such have detailed financial procedures and audited accounts.
We are registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority, and are fully compliant with the Governance Code.
We have built links with the music industry whereby we always get that little extra value for the money raised.
