How this works

About this group

Galway Autism Partnership (GAP) is a community based charity that provides support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. GAP offers social and special interest clubs, camps and activities, peer support groups, community outreach and education, information and advice for the public - we aim to make Galway an ASD-friendly city and county. GAP is entirely self-funded so we rely on our incredible volunteers to be able to sustain the work that we are doing.

Reasons to support this group

  • GAP is the only community based charity that supports the needs of individuals and families living with ASD in Galway city and county.
  • GAP has a dedicated, hard-working and motivated cohort of Volunteers from varied backgrounds. Support and training offered to Volunteers ensures that their important contribution is acknowledged.
  • GAP Clubs have a positive impact on the mental health and well-being of the entire family. While children get to enjoy a safe, social activity their carers and parents benefit from a short-term respite. Funding will be used to facilitate social and special interest clubs for children ages 3 - 18 years with ASD and their siblings. GAP Clubs represent a safe, non-judgmental space where children with ASD can be themselves, build relationships and exercise their independence. A GAP Club is a valuable support in meeting the emotional and social needs of children with ASD in Galway - not only do young people get to enjoy activities and outings, their parents can also enjoy a well-deserved break.
