About this group
Fencing Ireland was founded in 1936 as the governing body of the sport within Ireland, then known as the Irish Amateur Fencing Federation. Members of the Federation have competed at all levels of international competition, including the Olympics.
Irish Fencing supports competitors at all levels and age groups from under-7 through to over 70's (veteran fencing)
Reasons to support this group
Fencing is a sport that can be enjoyed by all ages and it doesn't matter whether you are 8 or 80 when you start. Everyone within the sport is equal. Age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, nationality or disability do not matter.
It is a fun way to stay fit or get in shape and participants can chose their own level from social through to competitive participation.
Fencing doesn't just develop the body in terms of fitness, but also develops strategic thinking, focus and concentration.
It also provides an outlet for stress and is a great way to work out frustration and let off steam.
Supporting Fencing Ireland will help us to develop more coaches and enable greater access to more people. We will be able to develop our youth fencers in their quest to compete at the top tier of fencing at the Olympic Games.
